      Description:

      Explain that an important part of chess is being able to focus and think. Have students stand or sit in a circle with their eyes closed. Have them listen for about 30 seconds, then say what they hear. (The older the child, the longer they can sit.)

      An important part of chess is being able to focus and block out distractions. The children sat on the chessboard with their eyes closed and focused on what they heard around them, and then they shared what they observed.
