        Description:

Explain that the queen is one of the most powerful pieces in chess and is good for going after the other player’s pieces. Make sure everyone knows how to play Duck Duck Goose (you can do a brief demo). Get children to sit in a circle on the big board or in the play area. Ask one child to be the first Queen, then play several rounds of the game. Make sure everyone has a chance to be queen.

(If the children want to be knights, make it “knight, knight, queen.”)

        Description for Parents

This version of “Duck, Duck, Goose” reinforces the importance of the queen.
