Movement-Based Chess Equipment Guide
Smart Moves transforms abstract tactical chess rules into full-body gross motor play. Our proven 70-lesson curriculum combines high-visibility physical chess hardware with standard PE movement props to make learning unforgettable for preschool and elementary students.
Why Movement Props Matter in Early Chess Education
Children between ages 3 and 8 learn through their bodies before they learn through symbols on paper. Rather than expecting young learners to sit quietly behind a tiny 20-inch board, Smart Moves gets them standing, running, tossing, and physically enacting the powers of the pieces.
To make procurement effortless for schools, we separate equipment into two clean sourcing channels: Core Chess Hardware fulfilled directly to your school door, and Active PE Movement Props curated as a 1-click Amazon kit.

Frequently Asked Questions About Equipment Sourcing
Can we pay for curriculum and equipment together on a single Purchase Order?
Yes. We frequently bundle the annual curriculum subscription license and the Turnkey Hardware Starter Bundle onto a single unified invoice with our school district vendor packet and W-9.
What happens if a giant piece is damaged or lost?
We back every shipment with a 7-day hassle-free damaged piece replacement policy. If UPS damages a piece in transit, email us a quick photo and we dispatch a replacement part immediately at zero charge.
Do we need the Giant Chess Set to teach the curriculum?
While the Giant Set is the most beloved feature of our program, schools on tight budgets can begin with the Magnetic Demo Board, regular Club sets, and painter's tape on the floor. Every lesson includes adaptations for indoor spaces.
Are tax-exempt certificates accepted?
Yes. Simply provide your state sales tax exemption form when requesting your invoice or checking out, and all sales taxes are removed.
